FREQUENT FLYER MUGABE NOW IN SUDAN

Absentee leader President Robert Mugabe has arrived in Khartoum for the inauguration of President Omar al Bashir.

President Mugabe is expecting a better reception than he had in Nigeria where he was harangued by journalists who told him it was time for him to go.

Mugabe is  attending the inauguration in his capacity as chairperson of the African Union after the AU observer missions ruled the elections as free and fair. Bashir won 94 percent of the vote.

The President left Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea Monday morning after a 2-day consultative working visit.

President Mugabe, who is accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Presidential spokesperson Cde George Charamba and some senior government officials, was warmly welcomed at Khartoum International Airport by Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Bashir, some members of his cabinet, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Sudan, Hilda Mavhudze and Zimbabwe embassy staff members.

President Mugabe will join other heads of state scheduled to attend the inauguration of the re-elected Sudanese President to be held at the National Assembly, called the Omburaman.
