THE slain body of a Mutoko woman continues to lie in limbo a week after she was doused with petrol and burnt to death by her jilted lover.
Mashonaland East police spokesman, Inspector Nobert Muzondo confirmed the chilling murder case. Information gathered yesterday indicate that Chiedza Muchemwa (25) was on Sunday last week burnt to death by her ex-boyfriend Susupence Kapondora (34) after he allegedly sneaked into her bedroom, doused her with petrol and burnt her to death after she had refused to reconcile following a break-up.
The incident occurred around 10pm at her Kotwa residence in Mutoko where she was a teacher at Chingamuka Primary School. More details of the heinous crime are yet to be established as the police are still investigating.
But speaking to The Sunday Mail, one of Muchemwa’s relatives opened up on the events that led to her death.
“Chiedza and Isaac had been dating for about six months until she decided to end their relationship due to his wayward behaviour. At one time, soon after their break-up, Isaac followed her to Harare and took her phone after he failed to persuade her to take him back.
“She refused and on Sunday last week, he went and bought himself a can of petrol before proceeding to her house,” said Paul Masarirambi, the victim’s uncle said.
Meanwhile, mourners are still gathered in Mabelreign, Harare and are complaining about the high funeral expenses as they await post-mortem results before burial.
